Dr. McNulty was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Development from
Walsh University in 1996. In 2004, she achieved a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in Counseling and Human Development from
Kent State University.
Dr. McNulty is independently licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor, and holds additional certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, with an emphasis on trauma-focused treatment. She is also certified as a Third Degree-A Reiki Master.
Dr. McNulty’s areas of particular interest include the provision of treatment services to children, adolescent and adult victims of various types of trauma, including traumatic loss. Due to her expertise, Dr. McNulty has been asked to provide consultation and education regarding recovery from traumatic loss in hospice centers and school environments. In addition to her clinical work with NEOBH, Dr. McNulty is employed as an Adjunct Instructor at both
Kent State University and the Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine. Within these educational settings, Dr. McNulty has conducted workshops and courses for faculty members, medical students and doctoral students. Dr. McNulty has special skills in group counseling, and has presented graduate-level courses regarding basic and advanced group processes at
Kent State University.
Since 2004, Dr. McNulty has been a member of the Stark County Traumatized Child Task Force, and has participated in various projects directed toward increasing community awareness of trauma and the development of professional community resources devoted to trauma treatment utilized Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Techniques (TF-CBT). Dr. McNulty has additionally prepared publications regarding grief groups conducted with adolescent clients, and has presented her expertise in adolescent self-esteem and grief work in national, local and regional conference workshops.
Dr. McNulty has published a number of research studies addressing professional perceptions within healthcare and medical teaching environments. She has also presented nationally on this topic. Dr. McNulty was selected by the Ohio Department of Mental Health to participate in an international (Beijing, China) presentation regarding mental health policy, administration, training, education and service delivery. |
